MARY PICKFORD cocktail
It was created in the early 1900s, perhaps around 1930 and dedicated to this famous Hollywodian actress of silent cinema. Not much else is known about the history of this mix but the simplicity in the preparation and the pleasant taste have made it successful; The IBA has included it in the list of "unforgettable" cocktails and I personally often serve it to those who ask me for a fruity, not very alcoholic and refreshing drink. 98% can satisfy the request.
Now let's see the preparation, the official IBA recipe is this:
All Day Cocktail
-
6 cl White Rum
-
1 cl Maraschino
-
1 cl Grenadine syrup
-
6 cl Fresh pineapple juice
Shake and strain into a chilled large cocktail glass.
I prefer to reduce the dose of rum to 4 cl to ensure that it is not too alcoholic. It then depends on the moment in which I serve it; if I prepare it in the late evening as the IBA recipe says, if it is a sunny afternoon.
I also add ice to a larger glass like this one.
